STEP 1: PI Receives Training Online & Retains Certificate

Principal investigators and student investigators are required to undergo online training and obtain certification in conducting research involving human subjects.  Please note:  The training must be renewed every 3 years.

TCNJ has an account with CITI allowing all TCNJ faculty and staff to complete their human subjects training through this platform at no cost.

1. Register:
   1.  Using CITI
      1. NOTE: Here are the steps for registering with CITI:
         1. Click on the “USING CITI” link above. Click “Register”
         2. Find “The College of New Jersey” under Search for Organization box.
         3. Click “I agree to terms of service” button.
         4. Decide on ID, password, etc., to complete registration.
2. Complete selected course
3. Print a certificate of completion from your computer, copy and paste it into a Word document or scan it into a PDF file, and submit it with your application. You will need to retain this certificate for future proposals.
4. Share your certificate with the TCNJ IRB: Please complete the following form to upload your training certificate to the new iMedris system here.
